Saudis Can Now Travel to China Without a Visa

Big news for travellers – visiting China just got easier.
Starting Monday, June 9, 2025, Saudi citizens—along with those from Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain—will be able to enter China without a visa, thanks to a new policy announced by China’s Foreign Ministry. This visa-free entry will be on a one-year trial basis, running until June 8, 2026, as reported by the official Chinese news agency, Xinhua.
Under the new rules, passport holders from these countries can stay in China for up to 30 days per visit. Whether you’re heading there for business, tourism, to visit friends and family, cultural exchange, or just passing through, you can now do so without the need for a visa.
Before this, Saudi Arabia had what’s called Approved Destination Status with China, which started on July 1, 2024, allowing group travel between the two nations. But this latest development is a big step forward in making travel even more accessible.
According to Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry, this move is expected to boost travel and strengthen ties between the two countries. It also aligns with Vision 2030, which includes an ambitious goal to welcome five million Chinese tourists to the Kingdom each year by the end of the decade.
